What we do?

mobiCar provides a full stack IoT platform for connected cars. mobiCar’s customizable hardware and software APIs wirelessly connect vehicle’s on-board computers (ECU) to the cloud. Our hardware enriches diagnostic and ECU data with GPS, IO, gyro and acceleration data for a deeper analysis of vehicle’s and driver’s states.

Our solution helps vehicle manufacturers identify fraud on warranty claims, perform full remote diagnostic and ECU upgrade over the Internet, provide targeted value added services to individual car owners and utilize data mining to pinpoint common faults on their vehicles on the road.

We also help insurance companies gather driver behavior patterns for Usage Based Insurance (UBI) coverage. Our AI engine will help the insurers continuously asses drivers’ risks for a dynamic pricing policy.

mobiCar stack includes HW (telematics unit), OTA FW upgrade, API, authentication/authorization, rule engines, mass data ingestion, stream processing, data mining as well as web/mobile applications for visualization. We also provide an ECU authoring tool to enter, maintain, encrypt and distribute ECU protocols to telematics devices.

mobiCar Platform Submodules

Ingestion module

This is a highly scalable microservice that can horizontally get data from millions of devices, process them and persist them in our DB.

Realtime view

 A stream processing unit routes the required messages to each view session that shows location of devices, their alerts, sensor values as well as fleet aggregate data.

Configuration module

This microservice has the information of the users, device settings and controls the commands sent to the device. It also sets the policies for FOTA as well as defining the vehicle protocol files and sending them to the telematics device.

Data governance engine

We can define APIs here to get access to vehicle data. Each API has a role that gives it access to certain parts of data of certain vehicles. The access level is dynamically defined and different access levels can be assigned or revoked as device state in our customizable state-machine changes. So for example the insurance company gets access to acceleration and GPS data, only upon an accident event, and only for 3 hours. Different business cases can be addressed with this dynamic governance engine.

Cloud Agnostic

The platform is cloud agnostic as we have not used any special feature from any cloud provider. Therefore, it can be installed on any cloud provider, in premise or hybrid solution.

Multi Tennant

The platform is multi tennant, so different organizations can coexist on the same infrastructure. Organizations can potentially grant access to specific atytributes of specific devices at specific time to either roles inside their own organization or accross other organizations.

Report Engine

Numorous reporting tools are available to extract and visualize geospatial data, vehicle health status, vehicle vital sensor monitor, etc

Audit logging

An audit log mechanism is present to ensure every access to each data is recorded, in case future audits are needed.

VBD Telematics (Vehicle Bus Decoder)

This telematics device, coupled with our powerful servers, can provide all the features you may expect from a conventional telematics device. This includes real time monitoring of your vehicle/fleet on a map, geofencing, set and monitor alarms, use various predefined reports or create your own and many more.

However, the features do not stop here. mobiCar VBD has taken vehicle tracking to the next level by adding features of an advanced anti-theft and a standalone diagnostic tool.

DIY Scantool

mobiCar DIY scantool is a small dongle connecting your phone to your vehicle’s data bus to extract data which, until now, has been only accessible to OEM diagnostic tools. 

While most DIY scantools can only “read” limited information from the engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU), mobiCar can “read” OEM level data from all units including brake (ABS), airbag (SRS), body, instrument cluster, gateways (BSI, UCH,…), ESP, multimedia unit and many more.
